EXERCÍCIOS DE KEGEL

KINESIOTTHERAPY IN UROGYNECOLOGICAL PHYSIOTHERAPY

Kinesiotherapy, also known as Kegel exercises, is certainly the basis of ALL our treatments for pelvic floor rehabilitation. In this way, through the movement of contraction and relaxation, we are able to restore complete neuromuscular function.

Arnold Kegel was the first professional to publish scientifically about the benefits of pelvic floor kinesiotherapy for the treatment of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Since then they have become known asKegel exercises.

In summary, the entire rehabilitation process must be divided into 3 phases: 1- teaching the correct movement of the muscle; 2 – muscular coordination; 3- hypertrophy.

Firstly, we must begin treatment with the patient sitting to perform simple isolated movements of the muscles of the PERINEUM , with the purpose of teaching the contraction and relaxation of these muscles, also promoting increased body and perineal perception.

Subsequently, to train coordination and agility, we must increase the difficulty of the exercises and perform the contraction of the pelvic floor muscles associated with other movements, such as flexion and extension movements of the hips and trunk.

Likewise, the patient must perform the exercises in an orthostatic position, promoting functional training, that is, the patient performs the contraction of the PERINEUM associated with the movements of daily activities, offering individualized training for the needs of each patient.

Finally, to develop muscle hypertrophy we use vaginal cones.

UROGYNECOLOGICAL PHYSIOTHERAPY

The urogynecological physiotherapy is a treatment conservative, certainly without any side effects, in a simple way. strong> and quickly resolves dysfunctions of the pelvic floor.

In this way, the main national and international medical societies recommend it as the first form of treatment for perineal dysfunction, also serving as a form of prevention.

Firstly, our treatments aim to carry out a global rehabilitation of the muscles of the PERINEUM, at the end of treatment these muscles will be able to perform all their functions: urinary, defecatory, sexual and support of the pelvic organs.

Therefore, all treatments follow the revolutionary and innovative concept Active Perineal Rehabilitation and Series developed by physiotherapist Dr. Laira Ramos.

ACTIVE PERINEAL REHABILITATION

The Active Perineal Rehabilitation protocol consists of 14 individual consultations, with the purpose of providing global rehabilitation of the muscles of the PERINEUM.

Each consultation lasts an average of 50 minutes in which the patient undergoes kinesiotherapy (Kegel exercises)with biofeedback and electrostimulation</a >.

In this  sense, the difficulty of the exercises evolves gradually, with the protocol divided into 3 phases: sessions 1 to 4 are for the teaching of contraction and relaxation; 5 to 8 sessions are for training agility and muscular coordination; sessions from 9 to 14 to promote muscle hypertrophy.

Therefore, in order to obtain better results more quickly, at the end of each session patients are instructed to do exercises at home and women instructed in the use of vaginal cones.
