SEXUAL RESPONSE
Certainly the researchers who first described the sexual response were Master and Johnson, In the 70s, at first they said it was linear and thus followed the following order: excitement, orgasm and resolution.
Still according to Master and Johnson’s model, men would find it easier to reach orgasm. However, they showed 3 orgasm responses for women, namely: women who were unable to orgasm, women who had a single orgasm and women who were able to achieve multiple orgasms.
However, at the end of the 70s, Kaplan joined Master and Johnson and thus added desire to the sexual response, which they still described as linear, then proceeding with the following sequence: desire, excitement, orgasm and resolution.
In this way, many women still continue to this day waiting for the desire to have sexual intercourse. Because only in 2001 did Basson finally show that there are two types of desire: spontaneous desire and responsive desire.
In this sense, Basson described the sexual response as cyclical, as it involves several factors. Therefore, he explained that we can initiate sexual intercourse for various reasons since our desire can, and certainly should, be stimulated in order to have an active and satisfactory sexual life.
